The Artist

Meet Helen

Helen Truscott’s work is driven by a quiet attentiveness to what is often overlooked. Her practice values restraint, allowing marks, surfaces and gestures to remain open rather than overworked.

Subtle shifts

She is interested in how familiarity shifts over time, and how subtle changes in tone, balance and emphasis can alter the way an image is experienced. This sensitivity runs through her work, giving space for interpretation rather than instruction.

An intuitive rhythm

Across her practice, Helen favours an intuitive way of working that allows ideas to emerge slowly. The result is a body of work that feels thoughtful, measured and quietly confident.

FAQs

What inspires your artwork?

I’m inspired by paying close attention to what’s around me and noticing the small things that often go unnoticed. Rather than starting with a fixed idea, I allow the work to grow from a feeling, a moment or something that lingers, letting each piece develop naturally as I work.

Can I ask about a specific artwork?

Of course. If a particular piece has caught your eye, you’re very welcome to get in touch using the contact form to ask any questions or express interest.

What materials do you work with?

Helen works primarily in oil painting, alongside a complementary body of work created in pastel. All works are made using high-quality, professional materials.
