Missive Oils™
A collection shaped by place, memory and movement.
Missive Oils™ explores the landscapes Helen encounters between the North East of England and Western Australia. Each painting is a visual response to a particular place or moment, capturing changing light, colour and atmosphere rather than simply documenting the landscape.
From windswept northern coastlines to the expansive shores and vivid horizons of Western Australia, the series brings together Helen’s observations and memories of the places that continue to influence her work.
Inspired by The North East of England and Western Australia
Helen lives and works between the North East of England and Western Australia, drawing inspiration from the distinct landscapes, light and sense of place found in both.
From the rugged coastline, changing skies and familiar landscapes of the North East to the vast horizons, vivid colours and expansive scenery of Western Australia, each environment offers a different visual language.
Her time between these two very different parts of the world shapes the way she sees and paints, bringing together memories, journeys and observations to create work that reflects both the character of the places she knows and the emotional connection they hold.
